Graduates of 2016: I'm one proud girlfriend

So if you read my last blogpost you'll know that I was feeling all nostalgic about my graduation last year.. well on top of that I've also recently attended my boyfriends graduation too! I thought this would be a nice addition following my last post, plus its always nice to share a bit of good news, right?

So a couple of weeks ago now I headed back to my old university in Greenwich to watch Michael and his friends graduate. I viewed the ceremony from the screening room and everything came flooding back to me. The gowns, the speeches, the hoards of families and friends waiting nervously for their sons, daughters, siblings, grandchildren and pals to take to the stage.

It was amazing seeing the boys dorn their gowns and take to the stage to accept their certificates, but on top of this I also got to see some of my friends who I met a uni graduate too! It was a really special moment and I felt so immensely proud.

Going through uni myself, and knowing these people and their journeys for so long, I really understood the pride they felt in that special moment.

It seems like only yesterday I was sat in the library with Michael as he wrote his dissertation (everyone's favourite thing about uni, right?) and now, here he is, a first class graduate from the University of Greenwich.

We had a lovely day - plus the weather stayed good which is always an unexpected pleasure in Britain. After the ceremony we all headed out for dinner and a local restaurants, drank wine and chowed down on steak and sticky toffee pudding.

It was an absolutely perfect day and I couldn't be prouder <3

A Year In The Life Of A Graduate

So I'm casually making my way through the day, not a care in the world, when I'm tagged in an old course friends' status. I'm sat wondering what this could be and when I open the Facebook post, I'm shocked.

We graduated together a year ago today. A year.

EU Referendum: We Are The 48%

"You're only voting remain because you're scared of change."

"You've always lived in a European England, you don't know any different."

"We need to make Britain great again."

For weeks, months even, I have listened to people's opinions on the EU referendum and have been endlessly told that I'm wrong to vote remain.

Yes, I was born into the EU and don't know any different but I was happy that way. Was. I have heard what Britain was like before and to be honest, it didn't sound all that great to me. Europe provided us with support, financial stability, ease of travel, and future prospects. I didn't vote remain because I'm scared of change. I voted to remain because I believed it was the right thing to do.. I believed that the UK was stronger as part of a bigger cause.

Seaside Getaway: Brighton

As some of you may know, I had to return back from America a lot earlier than planned due to some unforeseen circumstance. Disappointing as this was, its just one of those things and I wasn't about to  let a bit of a hiccup ruin my summer!

As a little trip away and a treat for my boyfriend receiving First Class Honours for his degree (wooh!), we decided to take a bit of time out and headed over to Brighton. Michael has been previously just on the odd day out but I actually hadn't ever been to this particular seaside retreat (not unless I went when very young and can't quite remember.)

Photo Story: Our Day In London

As you're (probably) aware by now, I'm off to teach film at Camp America!

Well as mine and my boyfriend's last big day out together before I head off, and to just have a general play about with the camera, we headed off around London for the entire day on Sunday and had the most wonderful time.

We were out for ten hours (ten!!) and our feet were killing by the time we got home, but it was absolutely worth it and we managed to take some really lovely photographs along the way, as well as stopping off for dinner and even a bit of a shop.

Here's some of my favourite snaps from the day, as well as a step-by-step of where we went!

Project 16: My Last Summer Ball

As most of you will probably know, I graduated from University last Summer. What I loved most about my time at Greenwich?

The events. Specifically spending them with my friends.

Well I may no longer be a student myself but a load of my friends still are, as is my boyfriend, so when the end of year party tickets went on sale I was adamant that we should go! During my time at uni, I went to two Summer Balls in my second and third year (I was working in first year, boo!) and I've got to admit, those years were better in regards to what was a available at the events.

All of the ones I've gone to have been based at the UoG's Avery Hill campus and was a festival theme but they rebranded the event as 'Project 16' this year, instead of the Summer Ball, and made some changes including it being held in a car park instead of a field (which kinda does take away from the boho feel of the years before, but still.)

However, we still had a great night. As they say, its the people you're with, not where you are, that counts.

Camp America, Cardiff and Chocolate [It's been far too long]

I haven't blogged since February, and haven't vlogged since even before that.

There's no excuse for my absence. Not a decent excuse, anyway, just the fact that life has been pretty full on.

I guess its important for me to start with some of the biggest news which I hadn't posted about recently (and is also the cause for my going AWOL).. I'm going to do Camp America!!! Yeah, I fly out at the end of May and will be gone for a over three months. Three whole months!

I'm taking on the role of a general counsellor and a film specialist at a Camp in California which is super exciting and absolutely terrifying all rolled into one. Three months is an exceptionally long time, especially as I'm so used to living with my family and being a stones throw away from my boyfriend and pals.

Anyway, I will try and keep you lovely lot updated on my CA experience while I'm away, but in the meantime I have actually been exceptionally busy. Time is rolling on by and I suddenly only have something 11 days before I fly out (ohmygodohmygodohmygod) and I'm panicking a wee bit. All of my paperwork is done - I have my visa which is really exciting - and I've started buying stuff to bring with me, but equally I'm trying to see all my loved ones before I jet off as I know it will be quite a while until I see any of them again.

So here's a break down of some of the highlights of the last couple of months!

Happy Belated Valentine's!

Love it or loathe it, Valentine's has come and gone again for another year.

I've always been a bit of a Valentine's Grinch but I actually had the most amazing weekend this time round so thought I'd share what I got up to and where we went.

Firstly, I went to the boyfriend's on Saturday evening.. I was shattered after work that day but still made sure that I took some time out to bake before I headed to his. As you all know, I love cakes and I really enjoy baking, so what better reason is there than Valentine's Day to make some pretty little cupcakes? I went for red velvet and butter cream icing (my absolute favourite) with some milk and white chocolate heart decorations.

Food Porn: Chocolate Fudge Cake

Both blogging and vlogging has been so slow recently and I do apologise. I'm still working full time as well as freelancing where I can, plus trying to balance spending time with family, friends and the boyfriend who actually celebrated his birthday a couples of weeks ago now. I made him a cake and have to say that I'm actually pretty impressed with how it turned out.. not to toot my own horn or anything.

Chocolate sponge cake with chocolate fudge icing and it was delicious.

I need/want/would love to bake everyday but damn, could you imagine how fat I would get?!

Happy New Year: Nostalgia & Resolutions [Vlog]

So it's a bit late and I look like a mess after being out last night but here's my first video of 2016!

I discuss nostalgia, resolutions and why NYE is basically the Grinch. Enjoy!
